A Life You Could Have
I am going to be honest. If someone would have told me I would be starting a blog at 19 years old I would have laughed in their face. I would have thought to myself I have other goals in mind that are far from that path. The truth is, we all end up in places we never saw ourselves. Fore me, sharing my mental health journey and the challenges I have faced and am still facing today was a major goal. I have known since I was a little girl that I wanted to help those around me. Now, sharing my personal experiences is something different. Life can get ugly and I unfortunately have been in situations I thought were to embarrassing to share. Turns out, I wasn’t the only one who thought that. There are young women all over the world that think just like you and me, that some parts of their lives are just better kept in the dark.
No one but yourself can truly make changes to your life and that is what I am here to share with you. Going through change was scary for me. It was the unknown and I despised the unknown. I put all of my goals in the idea box and told myself that they would happen when the time was right. Now that is a scary place to be. Most people, including myself, wait years for their life to start but I am here to say life starts the moment you breathe your first breath. What you do from there is up to you and you alone.
Creating a life you dream of is beautiful. After all, you get the opportunity to own it. Dreams are nothing without the first thought and goals are meant to be accomplished. Your mindset leads to your thoughts and your thoughts will become actions. Actions are what develop your personality throughout time.
Have you heard the saying, “You are what you eat?” Most of the time we associate that with a diet or losing weight but that can also be applied to your mindset. The first step to creating a positive mindset is to surround yourself with positivity. Whether that be cutting out negative thoughts, detoxing from social media, or even starting your day by making the bed. Each one of these requires change but also room for new opportunities.
I had to start by looking at the opportunities I already had. The smallest of opportunities can create the biggest accomplishments. For me personally, that was waking up each day with a positive thought. (the sun shining, a new book I was about to begin, etc.) I started telling myself each day is a new chance for a positive attitude. The smallest of things began to set my mood for days to come and they can set your mood as well. See the good in everything and start there. Who knows, you might end up smiling bigger than you did yesterday:)
